Loveland Ski Area Announces Final Approval for Lift 7 Replacement in Partnership with the U.S. Forest Service

Loveland Ski Area is pleased to announce it has received final approval from the USDA Forest Service to move forward with the replacement of Lift 7 at Loveland Valley. This project will take place during the summer of 2025 and debut for the 2025-26 winter season. This lift replacement represents a significant investment in the guest experience, especially for families and first-time skiers and riders.

The new lift, manufactured by Leitner-Poma, will replace the existing 42-year-old fixed-grip double chair with a modern fixed-grip quad. While the new lift will have the capacity to carry up to four people, Loveland will intentionally load it with no more than three. This unique approach is designed to provide additional space and comfort for guests—particularly beginners—getting accustomed to loading and riding chairlifts.

“This new lift is all about creating a better experience for our guests,” said Rob Goodell, COO and Senior Vice President of Clear Creek Skiing Corporation. “By giving beginners more space to get comfortable loading, we’re helping families and new skiers feel confident from their very first run. It’s an investment in the future of skiing and riding at Loveland.”

As part of this project, Loveland is offering a special opportunity for its loyal Loveland community: a select number of the original Lift 7 chairs will be available for purchase through a lottery exclusive to employees and 2025/26 season pass holders. Due to high demand and limited quantity, the chairs will be distributed by random drawing. Full details on how to enter the lottery will be announced this summer. Guests are encouraged to purchase their 25/26 season pass early to lock in the lowest price and secure eligibility for this unique piece of Loveland history.

In addition to the Lift 7 replacement, Loveland is moving forward with other capital improvement projects aimed at enhancing the guest experience. For the 2025/26 season, the Zig Zag trail will see grading and reshaping work to improve flow and snow retention for skiers and riders. Looking further ahead to the 2026/27 winter season, plans are in place to develop a new parking lot. This addition will help improve access during peak periods, reduce congestion, and create a more seamless arrival experience for guests.

Loveland Ski Area, located on the Arapaho National Forest, operates under a special use permit with the USDA Forest Service. The Forest Service approved the lift replacement after completing an environmental screening of the project plans. Construction will occur entirely within the existing lift alignment, minimizing environmental impact and preserving the natural character of the area.

Lift 7 services Loveland Valley, a dedicated learning area known for its approachable terrain and friendly environment. Construction is scheduled for completion in time for the 2025–2026 winter season.
