Loveland Ski Area recently welcomed a group of motivated young skiers and snowboarders for an unforgettable day on the mountain during the SheJumps WILD SKILLS Junior Ski Patrol program. Designed to inspire and empower the next generation of female outdoor enthusiasts, the program delivered a hands-on experience that went far beyond a typical day on the slopes.

Participants, ranging in age from approximately 8 to 14 years old, spent the day alongside female patrollers from the Loveland Ski Patrol team, gaining a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to keep a ski area safe. Guided by these experienced mentors, the group rotated through a series of interactive learning stations that introduced key skills and responsibilities of patrollers.

Throughout the day, participants explored:

• First aid and emergency response techniques
• Avalanche awareness, control, and rescue methods
• Toboggan handling and on-snow transport
• Weather monitoring and mountain safety
• Radio communication and teamwork

One of the highlights of the day was a live demonstration from Bandit, Loveland’s avalanche rescue dog. Watching Bandit in action gave participants a real-world look at how highly trained rescue dogs play a critical role in mountain safety and emergency response.

Beyond the technical skills, the experience was about building confidence, leadership, and a deeper connection to the mountain environment. With mentorship from the women of Loveland Ski Patrol, participants were encouraged to challenge themselves, ask questions, and envision their own future in the outdoor industry.

This marks the third SheJumps event hosted at Loveland Ski Area, continuing a strong partnership focused on creating opportunities for girls to grow and thrive in snowsports.

The day was capped off with classic Loveland spring conditions, fresh snow, and plenty of smiles—making it a memorable experience for everyone involved.

The first-ever Shinobi Showdown went OFF

A new style of riding that’s all about creativity and progression on minimal terrain. Inspired by the Gratori scene in Japan and gaining momentum across the U.S., this comp brought a fresh vibe to Loveland.

Spring is here, but the turns aren’t over yet at Loveland Ski Area.

While this season has brought its share of weather challenges, Loveland has received several rounds of fresh snow this month and current conditions remain solid. As we move deeper into spring, a number of factors will guide whether we operate through the planned May 10 closing date. We will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates if our original target is not achievable.

Loveland Basin Operations

Loveland Basin remains open with late-season skiing and riding available.

Our team will continue evaluating snowpack, weather, and overall conditions to determine how long we can keep lifts spinning this spring.

Rentals

Loveland Basin Rentals

The Basin Rental Shop at Loveland Ski Area is located behind the flagpoles, next to the Sport Shop and Main Lodge.

Hours: 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (Daily)
No rentals are sold after 2:00 p.m.

Reservations Recommended

Reservations are strongly recommended—especially on weekends and holidays. While walk-ins are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, availability is not guaranteed.

The best way to secure your equipment is to reserve in advance online before your visit.

Loveland Valley Rentals

The Valley Rental Shop is currently closed for the season.

Due to current conditions, we’ve made the decision to close Lifts 4, 8, and 9 for the remainder of the season.

We’ll continue to operate available terrain and lifts as conditions allow.

And as we get deeper into spring, we’ll closely evaluate terrain and provide updates as it relates to our targeted closing day.
